ALSO: Just a note to let you know that I will be away from school from Wednesday afternoon-Friday. There will be a substitute in my room and ample activities for the students, so please remind your child to be on their best behavior!
Here's the plans for the week:
6th grade: You will be working with the 7 Elements of Culture this week, and will spend Wednesday-Friday with the sub working on creating a culture for a country you will make up this week! Be ready to present your culture to the class on Monday, September 26.
--
7th grade: You are going to start looking at the geography of the first area we'll be studying this year, North America. We will be focusing on the different elements of the culture and 5 Themes of Geography of North America this week, as well as choosing and researching the American country which you will be presenting to the class on October 10-11.
--
8th grade: You will start the week off with a review of the two river valley civilizations we learned about last year...do you remember what they are?! You will finish the week with the sub looking at the Epic of Gilgamesh and creating a play to present to me on Monday, September 26.
--
9th grade: Your new unit of Absolutism is beginning this week, and we will start off with some activities to help you understand what absolutism is and where it was found. You will end the week working in groups to create role-plays involving four different absolutist monarchs, which will be presented to me on Monday, September 26.
Let's come back refreshed and ready for another great week, the first week of the second half of Quarter 1!! :)
