Hello everyone:
I hope you had a really great weekend!
I know I did, because I had a great birthday sendoff from my 8th graders!! :)
Thank you! :)
Now to this week:
There was no school yesterday (obviously :) and there will be no school for students on Friday. This is a change from what the official school schedule says, but please be aware there will be no half day of school on Friday. Instead, the whole day (8-3) will be dedicated to student-led parent teacher conferences. Please make arrangements to bring your student to talk to any/all of their teachers during this time. If this time is not convenient for you, please contact your students' teachers to schedule a conference time.
Academically:
6th grade will be focusing on the Olmec Civilization. They will have some history and art projects in order to underscore some of the major elements of civilization of the Olmec.
-
7th grade will start looking at the 5 elements of geography, human and physical geography of Western Europe. This week they will be working on their map skills in this region.
--
8th grade will begin looking at the Ancient Greek culture. They will begin with a quick overview of the major Persian leaders, then move on to the geography of Ancient Greece.
--
9th grade will begin looking at the scientific revolution as a part of their greater revolutions unit. They will simultaneously be looking at the enlightenment.
--
It's going to be a great week!
