101st-105th Days of School: Week of January 30-February 3!

Hello everyone!

Can you even believe that last Friday was the 100th day of school?! I really enjoyed seeing many of the elementary students dressed as 100-year-old men and women. What fun!

I also really enjoyed the students' production of "Romeo to Go" last Friday. It was a funny play, and fun to see the students in roles different than their usual personalities. Way to go! Your dedication to the play really paid off! :)

As always, we had some fun activities in Room #4 last week, including the Create-a-Castle project in 8th grade! Here are a few pictures of the beginning stages...I will put up pictures of the final products once they have been turned in on Monday, February 6! (notice the new Mimio board, too!)

And here's what you can expect in my room this week:
6th grade: Nice job on your quizzes last week! We will go over the quizzes (briefly) on Monday, then start right into our Colonialism unit. You will contemplate the question "What is a Colony" on Monday, then learn about the Spanish (South and Central American) colonies on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday will be spent "in" the Southern United States, looking at the first sustained colony, Jamestown, and the Southern Colonies.
--

7th grade: Get ready to review! Monday's class will be dedicated to completing your large Southwest Asia notes page and playing the map games on the Mimio board. Tuesday, January 31 will be your Southwest Asia map and information quiz. Wednesday-Thursday you will work in pairs to complete the South Asia maps assignment, and Friday will be your first day to work on your South Asia Country Float Pairs Project!
--

8th grade: You will continue looking at life during the Middle Ages. On Monday you will learn more about the daily lives of the four social levels of Feudalism. Tuesday and Wednesday you will be reading an actual contract signed by an actual serf back in the 1200s! (and don't worry, we'll discuss it, too). Thursday and Friday you will be in the computer lab working on a webquest focused on certain aspects of the lives of the Nobility. Don't forget to keep working on your Create-A-Castle project! The castles and your "Castle" movie notes page are due next Monday (February 6th!)
--

9th grade: I am so happy you enjoyed Lagaan so much last week! Don't forget your Lagaan movie notes page is due at class time tomorrow! This week you will move on from India to learn about Imperialism in Africa. On Monday and Tuesday you will review the causes of Imperialism and learn how they ALL relate to Africa. Wednesday you will learn how Imperialism came to Africa, and Thursday you will learn more about how the British tried to take over the world during this time. Friday will be another Lagaan extension day: you will have another class to play Cricket with the 7th graders!
--

Hope you all have a wonderful week!
