6th Grade: Ancient Americas Quiz Review Questions (+Answers)

Hello 6th graders:

Please remember that you are allowed to bring one page of notes (only one side with writing, please) to use on the quiz. You are NOT ALLOWED to simply copy and paste these questions, nor to directly copy them. You need to re-write any notes you bring in your own words, and not in question (answer) format like I have used below.

If you do come with your notes in this format you will not be allowed to use them on the quiz.

13. What were the customs and traditions of the Anasazi? (Held secret underground ceremonies to the gods, went on spiritual journeys. Wore aprons, waistbands made of hair or cloth breeches)

14. What was the language of the Anasazi? (verbal communication and cave paintings and etchings)

15. What were the arts and literature of the Anasazi? (Petroglyphs: images designed on rock surface; Pictographs: painting on a rock wall, Baskets, Pottery, Tools, Oral stories)

16. What was the religion of the Anasazi? (gods based on the functions of nature like a rain go and a sun god, creator god was called grandmother)

17. What was the government of the Anasazi (people were organized into clans, people belonged to those clans because their mother belonged to the same clan)

18. What was the economy of the Anasazi? (trade for goods they could not make or find like copper, seashells and exotic animals, hunted and gathered for themselves)

19. What were the dates of existence of the Anasazi? (1-1500 CE (are still around today)

20. What were the place(s) of existence of the Anasazi (Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico)

21. What were the important places of the Anasazi? (Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde, Reyenta)

22. Who were the important leaders/people of the Anasazi? (Clan leaders, chiefs, priests, women)

23. Where are the Anasazi now? (They are still located in the Southwestern USA, called Pueblo Indians.

24. What is one theory about how people came to the Americas? (land bridge or by boat)

26. What was one thing Clovis children had in common with children of today?

27. What was one difference between Clovis children and children today?

28. How do we know about how early people came to the Americas? (creation legend, DNA, archaeological evidence)

A Hint: I would make a chart in my notes showing the similarities and differences between the Mississippians and Anasazi peoples.

  1. mrs fink its aureo, i couldnñt write in a comment in 9 grade section, so i am writting in 6 grade section.
    Katherine the grate was absolute monarch because she recollected alot of taxes so there wasn´t checks and balances. Also she made alot of wars that means she had political soverenti.

  2. James II was an absolute monarch, he changed from Anglican to Catholic which gave him devine right, he had no checks and balances and had political sovereignty since he went on many wars. he also killed anyone who rebelled aginst him.
