Activities and Assignments: January 31-February 4

Hello again:

I can't believe it, but the 100th day of school is here! (and will probably be gone by the time you read this...)

This year is really flying by, probably due to all the stuff we're doing in class!!

Speaking of...

6th grade: Next wee you will continue looking at the colonial society of the Americas. We finished our look at the Vikings and will discuss the Spanish briefly on Monday, then move on to the English in the North American colonies. We'll talk about a little place called Jamestown and look at the charter that started it all...we'll also look at what types of people were needed in colonies like Jamestown. Wednesday you'll have a sub again (I'll be in a curriculum meeting) but you'll have some readings to investigate about the Southern Colonies. Then Thursday and Friday we will look at the Middle and New England Colonies.
--

7th grade: Next week is going to be mostly about the Tang and Song dynasties...I know I've been saying this for 2 weeks, but I promise, Monday is the day...we will start researching and looking at these two dynasties to prepare for Wednesday's debate. Thursday we'll analyze the debate, and Friday we'll start looking at the Yuan dynasty (oh those nasty Mongols!) Be preparing yourself: your quiz over Ancient China will be the following week...
--

8th grade: Monday will be your last day to work on the make-a-manor projects, and Tuesday you will present to the class. Wednesday-Thursday you will look at the Medieval ideas of inheritance laws, arranged marriages, dowries, and family alliances made purely for power reasons...I can't wait! Friday we'll have a who's who in the Medieval Catholic Church and look at the balance of power between church and state.
--

Seniors: Next week we will move from newspapers to television journalism, and I'll show you my best reporter imitation. :) We'll also keep working on the yearbook.
--

Hope everyone has a great weekend! See you next week!
